ZHAO HAI TIEN 趙海天

Born in Shanghai, Hai Tien is one of the few contemporary Chinese artists who trained overseas before China was opened to the western world in 1979. She studied art in China, Hong Kong and New York, graduating a BFA from New York’s prestigious Cooper Union School for the Advancement of Science and Art in 1969.

Since 1970 Hai Tien has held 17 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows and art fairs in Hong Kong and overseas. Her works have international appeal and have been acquired by private and corporate collections around the world.

Her individual development of humanism is more than painting. For 24 years she studied under one of the national top Chinese Taoist Chi Kung masters and has been practicing Buddhism for more than 30 years. Hai Tien believes that the meaning of life on earth is to move oneself onto a higher dimensional plane of existence through cultivation.
